Aluminum Fill PLA is made from our original series Standard PLA (Polylactic Acid) 3D printer filament. Unlike other metal filled filaments, we formulated our metal series of filaments to be just as easy to use as standard PLA but with an extra metallic sheen + option to polish for even more realistic metal looking part.
Our metal filled series PLA have a higher density compared to standard PLA. Parts printed in this filament will feel heavier.
Aluminum Fill contains about 10%-15% aluminum which is high enough to give the 3d printed part a metallic finish without compromising ease of use, strength and flow through standard size nozzles. To bring out more of the metallic shine, this filament also responds well to traditional buffing/polishing methods. The easiest and quickest method being polishing the part using an abrasive polish such as Brasso to the desired finish.
Please note: Since this filament contains metal, it will be more abrasive and could wear down a brass nozzle over time. We recommend you use a steel/hardened nozzle when printing with this filament.
More about our standard PLA:
Filaments.ca original series Standard PLA (Polylactic Acid) 3D printer filament is our most popular, tried and tested thermoplastic filament!
PLA is one of the most commonly used 3D printer filament because it is easy to use and is a friendly, nontoxic, bio-degradable material derived from renewable resources such as field corn.
Perfect for those who are new to 3D printing; compared to ABS, it is easy to use, excellent forming, demonstrates much less warping and curling and performs well on almost every type of printing.
PLA is especially ideal for printing objects with flat surfaces, hard angles and ones requiring tight tolerances for fit.
Commonly used for prototypes, educational architectural models, and artifact replicas. It's a popular choice for users looking to paint objects after they have been printed, such as costume props and figurines.
PLA is relatively brittle, so it is not recommended for thin, high strength applications.
PLA filaments should be stored in a cool dry place since PLA tends to absorbs moisture from the atmosphere which can compromise quality and performance.
The Filaments.ca Brand Advantage:
It's the best selling PLA in Canada for a reason! Our premium grade PLA is a result of continually improving formulation based on feedback from our customers & the 3D printing community. Selling in such high volumes gives the Filaments.ca brand an edge over competitors by being able to analyze trends accurately and implement preventive actions to ensure the high quality of our product is maintained and improved.
All our products are stored in and shipped from our own fully controlled warehouse. Having full control over storage conditions, product packaging as well as maintaining a FIFO (First In First Out) storage system is crucial in maintaining optimal freshness of our 3D printing consumables.

Made from 100% Grade A Virgin Raw Materials: We've seen first hand what prints from recycled filaments can look like, issues such as visible discoloration and other inconsistencies are common. From the very beginning, we've always guaranteed in writing that our filaments are made from pure grade virgin resin, giving you consistent high quality prints, beautiful look and feel. |

Controlled using Non-Contact Laser Diameter Gauge: Rapid, precise and repeatable measurements to exact dimensional tolerances. Such gauges allow us to maintain consistent high quality filament by automatically stopping a production line the moment a non-conforming measurement is detected. So regardless of the 3D printer you are using, the consistently round diameters provide optimum flow through the extruder nozzle. |

Continuous Line Production: Filament is extruded and spooled onto the reel in one continuous motion, producing tangle free spools that will unwind freely and smoothly from the start of the roll to the end. |

New Non-Brittle Formula: Naturally brittle plastics such as PLA can now be used with confidence knowing that the filament will not break during a print job, while still inside the printer or just sitting in storage. Our new formula adjusts the degradability of the material for optimal strength and performance. |

Ideal for High Resolution Prints: Our filaments will give you outstanding results even when printing at ultra high resolution using the latest 3D printers. |

Tested on a Wide Range of 3D Printers: We repeatedly and accurately test our filaments in-house, but more importantly, we act based on feedback from thousands of customers all across Canada (Thank you!) |

Compliant, Registered and Certified: Our filaments comply with the Restriction of Hazardous Substance (RoHS) directive and certified by SGS. Why is it important? It basically means the filaments are free from lead and other potentially hazardous substances including cadmium, mercury and chromium VI, among others. |

Moisture Protected Packaging: Some 3D printing materials can be negatively affected by moisture, that's why every product made by us is packed inside an air tight package along with a moisture absorbing desiccant pack. Furthermore, we've taken an extra precautionary step and will also ship you 1 free resealable bag as well as 1 free extra desiccant pack for every spool that you order. Regardless of the type of filament or the manufacturer. This will enable you to easily keep your filaments at an optimal storage condition and free from dust or dirt AFTER opening the original packaging, so its always ready for your next print. |

Produced According to a Standardized Color System: Every colored filament we manufacture is formulated according to a standard color system such as the Pantone Color Matching System. This is important in order to ensure consistent color shade with every batch as well as allowing us to produce specialty colors such as metallic and custom colors. |
