Looking for increased heat resistance without the need to switch to ABS? Proto-pasta High Temperature PLA offers heat deflection of up to 88° C (190.4° F) compared to standard PLA of 45-54° C (113-135° F). This makes it a great choice for moving parts (gears, RepRap pieces, etc) or prints that would face moderately high temperatures. Our High Temperature PLA is white, but can be painted after annealing.
Proto-Pasta High Temperature PLA is a custom compound consisting of mineral filled impact modified PLA with a nucleating agent to help promote crystallization. Crystallization is what gives this material added heat resistance.
To fully realize this advantage, parts must be soaked in hot water or an oven after printing at 60C-80C for 3-5 minutes.
Appearance is a glossy off white/light grey. Printed parts look good and have slightly more texture than standard PLA. This material is not translucent like standard PLA. Layer adhesion is good and the material has low warpage.
Properties such as heat resistance are improved. After required post-treatment, part properties are much more ABS-like than standard PLA.
Processing is comparable to standard PLA. No heated bed required, though a heated bed may help crystallize the material after printing and make oven soaking unnecessary for some parts.
STORAGE: One large resealable bag with slider + an extra desiccant pack are included with every spool. The bag and extra desiccant are a great way to safely store your filament spool when not in use. It keeps your filament bone dry & free from any dust or dirt particles, so it's always ready for your next print.
